Description
Geography Bewitched or a droll Caricature Map of Scotland: One of a set of three wonderful late 18th Century caricature designs depicting the nations of the British Isles. Scotland is depicted as a clwnish figure seated on a tassled cushion, a tartan plaid slung across his shoulder. A symbolic Scottish thistle appears in the foreground. Originally conceived by the English caricaturist, Robert Dighton, the set was first published by the London firm of Bowles & Carver in about 1790.
