Artist's Description
Designed by Tokyo University student, Kisaburo Ohara, and derived from British mapmaker Fred W Rose's earlier 1877 Octopus Map of Europe, this stunning satirical propaganda map was published in Japan in 1904 at the time of the Russo - Japanese War. The all entangling Russian Octopus extends its tentacles not only across Europe over the Far East aswell.
