Colorful pictorial map of the State of Virginia designed by well-known 1930s artist & commercial illustrator, Norman Reeves, for the "Pageant of the States", a pictorial atlas of the 48 principal States of the Union first published in 1938 as a special commemorative work sponsored by the New York World's Fair, which opened in April the following year. The 1939 Fair coincided with the 150th anniversary of the inauguration of George Washington as the first President of the United Sates under the Federal Constitution.
